If You’re White & Angry — You Get To Trash The Capitol

This is what happens when black people march
This is what happens when white people march

Some protestors used chemical irritants to attack the police, break into the capitol, tear shit up, act like actual terrorists and then at 6 p.m. what do they get?

“Please leave, there’s a curfew. Move along.”

Let me repeat this — some of these white extremists ATTACKED the police. How do you think that would have gone done if black people did that? This was not a peaceful protest, and it was not an assembly for change or justice. Instead, it was a rampage fueled and fed by an idiot king to an army of idiot white plebeians and allowed to unfold by a militia with a white perspective on “unrest.”

Rewind to our favorite year of the 21st century and the BLM protests last summer in Portland, OR. During those protests, soon-to-be-not President Trump tweeted this …

“Anarchists, Agitators or Protestors who vandalize or damage our Federal Courthouse in Portland, or any Federal Buildings in any of our Cities or States, will be prosecuted under our recently re-enacted Statues & Monuments Act. MINIMUM TEN YEARS IN PRISON. Don’t do it! @DHSgov,”

Yesterday he said this …

“We love you. You’re very special,” — I’m sorry, what? You’re very special? One senator went so far as to call the folks yesterday “hooligans.” White people = hooligans. Black people = anarchists. See the problem? Where’s the 10 years in jail for Ragnar the Jackass?

How special are these people? Well let’s see, only 52 people were arrested. Last summer during the Portland protest — 289 were arrested for “unrest-related” charges. Unrest — kind of like a bunch of asshats breaking into the state capitol, posting photos, dressed as rejected extras of the History Channel’s Vikings show and causing terror that had politicians cowering under tables. Oh, and as far as the president calling people out last year as “agitators” wanna guess who has been doing the agitating the last two months?

Whiteness In Full View

The attack on Washington D.C. shows the ugly and ever-present disparity between white America and black America. Yesterday, protestors actually took selfies with police. Last year, countless black protesters over the course of the year suffered severe injuries by police and are still recovering.

Thousands of white people, probably more, were met with less force and violence than Breonna Taylor, Rayshard Brooks, George Floyd, Atatiana Jefferson and all the others on that very long list of victims of police brutality. Breonna — was asleep. Single, non-violent, individual people without the force of a white mob behind them, brutally killed. Yet, yesterday, we get this …

We did it, we wrecked the place! White Power!

Yesterday was not a day to be a proud American. It’s been a long time since that’s even been a sentiment you could say with confidence (if you ever said it at all). In the face of everything we as a nation just survived in the last year and the fact that we’re about to have the first female, black, vice president that was legitimately elected— this event, this debacle of dumbassery, this is not who we should ever be. This should have never happened.

But it did. And the worst part? It was provoked, incited and allowed to transpire with little to no resistance.

After watching the events unfold yesterday, it’s hard to think of the preamble of the constitution having any worth at all. They’re just useless words on a piece of paper. “Ensure domestic tranquility.” Yeah … how’s that going?

The Absence of Force = The Imbalance of Race

Imagine if a black person had broken into Nancy Pelosi’s office and snapped a photo of himself for social media. You can’t — because that person would have never made it that far.

Did you see any barricades? Did you see any notion that this was a serious threat when the orange captain of the ship of fools basically provoked them to do this? Did you see any sort of actual force brought down upon these people?

You heard words, you heard president-elect Biden and others show their utter disappointment and revulsion. But what did they actually do about this? How could the police and military, knowing full well what was about to happen, let it happen when faced with the converse of this situation last year, this is what we saw …

Guns out boys, there’s a black person trying to say something

Notice the difference. Just absorb that image for a minute then go back to footage from yesterday and find one moment where there was ever a sense that this mob of buffoons was ever going to be suppressed. Just one. The national guard didn’t show up for hours. Last year, it looked like a scene from Star Wars on an Imperial Cruiser on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in the face of ensuing BLM protests

The two dudes at the top right are tweeting about the beat down they’re about the give

The racial bias in American policing could not have bee more apparent than on January 6, 2021. It’s not just white privilege on display, it’s an imbalance so skewed that the scale is actually broken. Broken, ignored and with no promise of repair anytime soon.

Happy New Year
